Always the visionaries, Wolford entered successfully into collaborations with international designers as early as in the 1980's. Joining forces with fashion heavy weights such as Karl Lagerfeld, Emilio Pucci, Missoni, Zac Posen, Valentino and Philippe Starck (to name a few) to produce amazingly beautiful and highly sought after capsule collections which are considered collectors pieces nowadays.

In the 1990's, the French magazine 20 Ans interviewed Emmanuelle Alt of French Vogue and asked her "What are your top 10 fashion favourites?" Her response, sitting at number two, was: "Des collants noirs en microfibre Wolford (à cause d'une sublime campagne de Newton)." In English: “Black stockings by Wolford (because of the sublime campaign by Newton).” Of course, she meant Helmut Newton and was referring to the sublime campaign he shot for Wolford in 1995 in Monte Carlo.
